Performance

In the Cowichan Valley, Ron has often appeared in fund raising concerts to benefit such causes as the Cowichan Valley Music Teachers Association Scholarship Fund and the Ita Wegman Society’s extended care facility at Glenora Farm. He has shared the stage with such notable local artists as pianist Ann Mendenhal and soprano Annette Lampson.

In October 2006 Ron performed “Ondine”- an excerpt from Maurice Ravel’s “Gaspard de la Nuit”- and Mozart’s Six Nocturnes for vocal trio and piano as part of a fund raising concert for St. Peter’s Anglican Church where he serves as organist. Student Taylor Winfry performed Chopin’s Ballade in G Minor on the same program.

During March 2006, Ron presented a lecture recital at the Cowichan Community Center featuring works by Beethoven, Chopin and Messiaen.

February 2005: Victoria’s critically acclaimed Aventa Ensemble – a chamber orchestra dedicated to the performance of contemporary music comprised of key Victoria Symphony musicians and UVIC performance faculty-under the direction of William Linwood, presented a mini series dedicated to the music of Quebec composer Gilles Tremblay. Ron performed the piano solo part of the epic work entitled “A Quelle Heure Commence le Temp?” The press as well as the composer-who was in attendance-, was very enthusiastic with the results.   More information on past hightlghts can be found here.

Immediate future plans include recording a CD of solo piano music.
